Porsolt continues to expand, and improve its catalog of models for pain, inflammation and arthritis.
This includes a rat model for Lower Back Pain, involving degeneration of the lumbar facet joints induced by intra-articular injection of monosodium iodoacetate (MIA). Evolution of the pain sensation is evaluated by tactile stimulation at the points of injury, and reactions to mechanical flexion/extension of the hind paws.
Additional models of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) include:
#arthritis rat model – chronic inflammatory pain caused by CFA in the ankle
#polyarthritis rat model – chronic inflammatory pain caused by CFA in the base of the tail
#osteoarthritis rat model – chronic inflammatory pain caused by MIA in the knee joint
#osteoarthritis guinea pig model – chronic inflammatory pain associated with surgery of the knee
