THROMBOSIS/BLOOD

Porsolt provides models for assessing the effects of compounds and potential therapies on blood flow. These models can be used for investigating direct effects or confounding and side effects of specific treatments on blood flow.

Bleeding time (anesthetized animal) Rat BL 2
Arterial thrombosis (FeCl2) Rat BL 3
Venous thrombosis (FeCl2) Rat BL 4
Arterio-venous shunt (silk thread model) Rat BL 5

Extracorporeal arterio-venous shunt (silk thread) model in the anesthetized rat

     – An arterio-venous shunt is placed between the left jugular vein and the right carotid artery.

     – After 20 min of extracorporeal blood circulation through the shunt, the blood flow is stopped. The wet weight of the thrombus is determined.

Both heparin and dabigatran exert their antithrombotic properties in the extracorporeal arterio-venous shunt (silk thread) rat model.
