Inflammation is a complex mechanism gathering a number of cell response pathways to harmful stimuli, and can be either acute (initial response of the organism) or chronic (when the response is prolonged). Sustained inflammatory abnormalities are involved in a variety of disorders thereby making inflammatory pathways molecules attractive targets for drug discovery.
